How to Put Line on the Team Lew's Pro SP Reel

Lew’s Pro SP reel is the ideal baitcast reel for skipping and pitching. The super shallow spool holds 40 yds. of 20 lb. test for reduced deep spool backlashes. In this video, Lew’s pro Andy Montgomery highlights some tips and tricks for spooling the Lew’s Pro SP with ease.

Montgomery uses 20-pound Contra, a pair of needle nose pliers, and a pair of clippers. He first threads the line through the first line guide of the rod only to start out but advises that you can start from the tip if desired. He then threads the line through the reel and out the bottom, pulling the line through and threading it back to the top of the spool through the bottom of the reel. Tie the two ends of the line together using any knot. Clip the tag end as close as possible to the knot. Pull the knot down into the convenient Knot Slot to secure.

  4. Using the needle nose pliers, pull out the line closest to the front of the reel and tie together with the loose end using any knot
