Lew’s Introduces Kevin VanDam Series of Fishing Reels

Lew’s announces the addition of Kevin VanDam’s new KVD Series of baitcasting and spinning reels.

Along with the new KVD Series of fishing rods, Lew’s announces the addition of Kevin VanDam’s new KVD Series of baitcasting and spinning reels. 

Built with exacting specifications, the new KVD Series reels will give anglers the ability to make long casts, feel what the lure is doing with their smooth retrieves, have the power to handle the biggest bites, and durability to last for years.  

The KVD Series feature all aluminum frames, strong drags and will be priced so that every angler will be able to fish with the same product the most accomplished professional angler in the world uses every day. The rich burgundy and black styled reels will be on store shelves in baitcasting models for $139.99 and $89.99 for spinning models.

VanDam said that the reels are tailored to his pedal to the metal fishing style and attention to detail. “I needed reels that I knew I could compete with, and Lew’s has done an outstanding job in providing that,” he said. “I have been fortunate to fish with some of the best equipment available throughout my career, and while I didn’t think it was possible, these reels are next level performance.”

The baitcasting reels will be available in three gear ratios, in both right and left-hand models, to fit every angler’s technical needs.  A 6.2:1, 7.5:1 and 8.3:1, all feature 20-pound drag systems. Spinning models will come in three models, 200, 300 and 400 sizes featuring a 6.2:1 gear ratio.

Baitcasting models sport the following features: one-piece aluminum frame with easily removable palming graphite sideplate, a drilled, machine forged and anodized aluminum 34mm spool, high strength solid brass Speed Gears®, P2 Super Pinion™ bearing supported pinion gear provides precise alignment and solid stability, resulting in a smoother operation and extended gear life, the Multi-Setting Brake (MSB) dual cast control system utilizes both an external click-dial for setting the magnetic brake, plus 4 individually disengaging, disk-mounted internal brake shoes that operate on centrifugal force, a premium 10 bearing system with stainless steel double shielded bearings and Zero Reverse® one-way clutch, an anodized aluminum spool tension adjustment knob with audible click adjustment, the rugged carbon fiber drag system provides up to 20lbs. of drag power, bowed audible click drag star, anodized, bowed aluminum 95mm reel handle with EVA paddle knobs, oversized, Zirconia line guide, Lew’s patented retractable Speed Keeper® bait keeper and an external lube port.

Spinning models will come with the following features: Premium 10-bearing system with 9 ball bearings and Zero Reverse® one-way clutch bearing, all aluminum body and sideplate, high strength and lightweight C40 Carbon skeletal speed rotor with aluminum bail wire and S-curve oscillation system, a double anodized braid ready knurled machined aluminum spool. Quality, solid brass pinion gear, durable stainless steel main shaft with external stainless steel screws, DuraMax™ drag system provides a smooth, powerful, and consistent drag for unmatched stopping power, right or left-hand adjustable aluminum handle with an EVA handle knob, Lew’s, Speed Lube® for exceptional smoothness and uninterrupted performance in all weather conditions, from extreme heat to freezing cold.
