Jason Christie Bassmaster Classic Champion

Team Lew’s Congratulates Lew’s Pro Jason Christie, 2022 Bassmaster Classic Champion

Columbia, SC – After seven years on the Elite Series, with 29 Top Ten finishes to his name, Lew’s Pro Jason Christie is waking up this morning a Bassmaster Classic Champion.  The Park Hill, Oklahoma native left the ramp on the morning of Championship Sunday in a heated two-way tie for the lead with Kyle Welcher.  After battling hard against a final-day roster of 25 of the world’s best anglers, Christie weighed a final limit of 17 pounds, 9 ounces, narrowly besting Welcher.

Christie spent each day of the tournament juggling between a deep water spinning pattern and pitching docks for fish that had moved into the shallows following nearly a week of warming water.  He credited his spinning rig with a Team Lew’s Custom Pro 3000 Reel.  “I was fighting fish all week in 30 feet of water with spinning gear.  You have got to have a great drag to do that,” offered Christie.

For pitching shallow docks, Christie relied on the Lew’s HyperMag and Pro SP Baitcast reels for powering fish out of shallow cover around docks.  “With the Pro SP, I can put 40 yards of line on that reel and not worry about overruns when I am pitching and flipping,” Christie said.  “It works flawlessly.”

With eight appearances in the Bassmaster Classic, Christie has twice grinded his way to nearly the top of the leaderboard, only to see the famed Classic trophy handed to another.  Today, however, he finally joins the ranks of 52 of the greatest – the Bassmaster Classic Champions.  His team at Lew’s is proud to stand behind him.  Congrats on a great win, Jason Christie.
