Lew’s new products and pros shine at 2017 Bassmaster Classic
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (March 23, 2017) - New product introductions, legendary bass professionals, t-shirt tosses and prize drawings are among the activities scheduled each day in the Lew's booth at the Bassmaster Classic Expo being held in downtown Houston, March 24 - 26.
The show's Friday opening will be the first time the new Lew's Mach II Speed Spool SLP baitcast reel is available for purchase and most of the exhibiting retailers will have it and other Lew's items for sale.
The Mach II Speed Spool features Lew's innovative SLP Super Low Profile design, making it about 10 percent smaller in overall size than traditional baitcast reels. It has a premium 10-bearing system with double-shielded stainless steel bearings and a Zero Reverse anti-reverse clutch bearing.
Lew's Mach II Speed Spool SLP makes its official public introduction at the 2017 Bassmaster Classic. The compact reel's innovative Super Low Profile design is 10 percent smaller overall than traditional baitcast reels.
Its machined 32mm anodized aluminum U-shape spool holds a lot of the magic as to why the compact reel casts so well. The smaller spool starts and accelerates quickly, meaning it handles even light lures and lines with ease. Cast control is Lew's externally adjustable MCS magnetic cast control system. The Mach II baitcast reel sells for around $139.99.
Lew's has eight pros competing in the Classic: Jason Christie, Bill Lowen, Randall Tharp, Wesley Strader, Jason Williamson, Drew Benton, John Garrett and Scott Clift.
Among the 14 top-tier anglers representing Lew's in its booth during the expo's three days are former Bassmaster Classic winners Hank Parker, Paul Elias, David Fritts, Cliff Pace and Jay Yelas. There are also three FLW Cup titleholders in the group, including Yelas, Fritts and Brad Knight.
Additionally, Stephen Browning, Charlie Evans, Tim Horton, Bill McDonald, Mark Menendez, Cliff Prince, Zell Roland and Andrew Upshaw will be in the Lew's booth
Lew's pro staffer Wally Marshall, also known as Mr. Crappie, will be on hand to visit about crappie fishing techniques and gear.
Two-time Bassmaster Classic winner and popular television show host Hank Parker is one of several legendary tournament anglers appearing in the Lew's booth during the 2017 Bassmaster Classic Expo being held in downtown Houston, March 24-26.
"The March time frame and the Texas location for this year's Bassmaster Classic put bass and crappie fishing front and center at a peak time of year for catching both species," said, Mike Eutsler, Lew's field promotions manager. "We're fortunate to have a roster of pros working our booth at the Classic that are dialed in on the latest tips, techniques and tackle for catching whatever you're interested in and they're fully accessible to be able to walk right up to each for visits, photos and autographs. We encourage all expo visitors to take advantage of those opportunities at Lew's."
Lew's is also hosting daily booth drawings for prizes that include its new Team Lew's Custom Pro and Custom SLP baitcast reels, Mach Speed Spool, boat bags, aluminum pliers and Speed Beam culling system. The two Grand Prizes for Sunday's final drawing are a limited edition Team Lew's Pro Speed Spool and a Mark Rose Team Lew's Ledge rod.
The daily t-shirt tosses and prize drawings are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
"The Bassmaster Classic provides a first chance opportunity for anglers to buy some of our newest introductions, including the Mach II Speed Spool," said Lew's Bob Brown, a director of product development. "We have other new models of rods and reels being sold in the Expo, and we have a number of instant redemption incentive items tied to Lew's purchases on the show floor. This is the perfect opportunity for anglers to shake rod actions and give new reels a spin."
The Bassmaster Classic Expo, located in Houston's George R. Brown Convention Center, is open to the public and entry is free. Lew's booth number is 1645.
