Lew's Speed Spool promotion begins in May
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (April 28, 2014) - The Lew's Speed Spool, an iconic baitcasting reel that helped launch the low-profile craze more than 40 years ago, is the focus of a special consumer rebate offer during a three-month promotional period that begins May 1, 2014.
The $20 mail-in rebate offer is valid for all four Speed Spools models - SS1S, SS1H, SS1HL (left hand) and SS1SH - and applies to any new reel purchases made at participating retailers during the promotion's timeframe of May 1 - July 31, 2014. Proof of purchase is required for rebate redemption.
"Already rated the best value in a $100 baitcaster by several independent tackle reviews, getting an additional $20 off means that there is no better time than now to get outfitted with Speed Spool reels," said Lew's president Gary Remensnyder. "At the $79 after-rebate price, anglers are getting a lot of the same design and technology features found in our high-end baitcast reels."
The Lew's Speed Spool, a low profile baitcast reel featuring 10 ball bearings and a one-piece die-cast aluminum frame, is the focus of a special consumer mail-in rebate offer that runs May 1 - July 31, 2014.
Today's Speed Spools were totally redesigned in 2009 to incorporate the latest in materials and features. The reels include 10 premium shielded stainless steel bearings to drive a smooth, dependable performance. Frames are one-piece die-cast aluminum. Cast control is managed by Magnetic Control Systems (MCS) that use an external click dial to adjust their magnetic brake systems. Reel handles are anodized bowed aluminum with Lew's custom SoftTouch paddle knobs.
Coinciding with the launch of the Speed Spool promotion is the debut of an all-new Lew's website, the online resource where all Lew's product and promotional information can be found. The Speed Spool rebate information and downloadable form is located at Lews.com under the "Promotions" tab.
"Our totally renovated website provides a fresh and modern look for today's Lew's that nicely complements our ongoing commitment to product innovation, while maintaining respect for the prestigious history of our legendary brand which will always be an integral part of who we are," said Lynn Reeves, Lew's CEO.
"We feel the improved site serves up a quality visitor experience when navigating for product information or looking for dealers, plus also delivers some great fishing knowledge in the way of written and video tips that come from our top-notch pro staff of fishing's greatest names. Our "Apparel Store" part of the site is coming soon, and that's something a lot of anglers have been asking for."
Lew's marketing communications partner, Dollahon PR, developed the new site and also maintains it.
Lew's got its start in the early 1950s, when the late Lew Childre had turned his passion for fishing into a full-time business. Childre and his Lew's Speed Spool are credited with the 1970s introduction of the low-profile baitcast reel design, smooth "palming" side cover and the disengaging levelwind.
Childre's attention to detail and his demand for lighter, faster and stronger products became the driving force behind the company's quest for innovation. The same objectives remain the primary focus of today's Lew's, under new ownership since 2009.
The Lew's product line consists of baitcast and spinning reels and rods, including the Wally Marshall Signature Series of crappie products, and a variety of fishing accessories.
