I just finished my first year on the FLW Tour as a rookie, and I will say it was a great experience overall. While the fishing was not great for me and I didn’t do as well as I would have liked to have done, there is a lot I take away from this season.
I gained a lot of experience and saw some changes in my styles of fishing and learned a ton about fishing for a four-day tournament and not getting any time prior to. You only get three days to break the place down, so you have to change your tactics and what you’re looking for and how you’re going to manage your fish.
The season didn’t go as planned but now it’s all wrapped up and now, we’re getting ready to kickoff the Bassmaster Northern Open series. We are getting ready to head to the first event of the year at Oneida Lake and I have done well there before. I’ll be looking forward to hopefully a good finish and get that part of the season started right. It would be nice to get this year swung around and headed in the right direction.
That is a little bit in the future, right now I’m just kind of chilling out on vacation with the family at the beach in North Carolina, decompressing. We will head back from here and jump right in the truck and head to New York.
